Atrophy of testicles and erectile dysfunctions of athletes suspected of steroid use

Some athletes that are suspected of steroid use become targets of the government. Federal prosecutors do almost anything in order to determine whether several sportspersons have taken any doping products. They don’t spare taxpayers’ funds for this purpose. Much money is wasted to reveal even private life of sportspersons. According to the government, certain details of their private behavior can disclose the truth about intake of forbidden preparations. So, girlfriends of some sportspersons are interviewed by federal prosecutors.
For example, it has been disclosed that former girlfriends of Lance Armstrong and Roger Clemens and a former mistress of Barry Bonds have been asked about certain aspects connected with private life of these athletes. Which questions were asked?
Kimberly Bell, a former mistress of Barry Bonds, was asked about size of testicles of this baseball player. She reported that the athlete’s testicles were shrunken. So, her answer served as an argument that Barry Bonds administered steroids and/or other prohibited medications.
It is known that testicular atrophy belongs to unwanted consequences of certain steroids. So, the government decided to find out whether Barry Bonds had had this trouble. But it is a poor argument in order to prove that anyone has taken some banned substances. Steroid users can avoid this unwanted result, if they take some preparations for this need.
Mindy McCready, a former mistress of Roger Clemens, was asked whether this former athlete had suffered from erectile dysfunctions. The woman noted that sometimes Roger Clemens had experienced this problem.
As for erectile dysfunctions, they may occur during application of steroids. But if you study information about adverse effects of steroids more attentively, you can understand that this effect is more likely to appear after discontinuation of usage. It happens because natural secretion of testosterone is usually suppressed by intake of exogenous testosterone. But since there are such products that have capacity to regenerate natural production of testosterone, erectile dysfunctions can be prevented.
Sheryl Crow, a former girlfriend of Lance Armstrong, was also interviewed by the government. But it is not known what she was asked about. According to some suppositions, she might have been asked also about sexuality of the cyclist.
In fact, federal prosecutors have a wrong opinion in this case. Although shrinkage of testicles and erectile dysfunctions may appear because of steroids, these arguments are not suitable.
