It is known by each baseball fan that Roger Clemens is charged with obstruction of justice. It is said that he has lied before Congress about intake of steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin claimed that there was no any difference in physical appearance of Roger Clemens before, during and after his working with the trainer Brian McNamee. The attorney affirmed that this factor was a proof that Roger Clemens hadn’t administered steroids and other related products.
Changing in muscle size is commonly utilized by prosecutors as proof that a person uses steroids or/and other related products. But this tendency was not used during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. No one could claim that Roger Clemens’ muscles demonstrated that he had taken steroids and HGH. It is one of differences between the case against Roger Clemens and that against Barry Bonds.
As for the governmental case against Barry Bonds, federal prosecutors called numerous individuals in the trial who could testify that anabolic steroids led to evidential changes in physique of this sportsperson. They affirmed that usage of steroids caused enhancement of muscle size, increased size of the head and testicular shrinkage in Barry Bonds.
So, the defense attorney Rusty Hardin provided four pictures of Roger Clemens. The photos were made four different times during the baseball career of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with the coach Brain McNamee. Hardin noted that the pictures manifested that there was no difference in physical changes that could manifest that he took steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin noticed that the photos manifested only the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern also confirmed that she didn’t observe any changes in physique of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor gynecomastia, nor essentially enhanced muscle mass.
Phil Garner, a former baseball player, also affirmed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with the coach Brian McNamee.
Steve Durham, the Assistant US Attorney tried to discredit the argument about lack of changes in Roger Clemens’ physical appearance during the cross-examination of the former baseball player Phil Garner. He noted that while some steroids increased muscle size, others didn’t promote getting muscles. So, he affirmed that the photos could display nothing about steroid use.
Feds want to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they affirm that changes in physical appearance of Barry Bonds display that he has taken steroids, lack of changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t administered steroids.
