Inhaled steroids in case of asthma

Inhaled corticosteroids are ordinarily recommended for treatment of persons with early stages of asthma complications.
According to certain recent researches, one can increase the standard dosage of inhaled corticosteroids by 8 times, but benefits will be not increased in such situation. Ejaz Yousef, a doctor who has been involved in these researches, states that if a physician observes that medical position of a patient becomes worse, he/she can recommend taking oral steroids instead of enhancing the measure of inhaled corticosteroids. Increasing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids is not without any side consequence. This factor leads to various adverse effects. For example, the hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal axis may be suppressed under such circumstance.  
Intake of inhaled corticosteroids was claimed to be alternative therapy to taking oral medications. It was in 1997. It was fixed to prescribe inhaled steroids as alternatives of oral medicines which are utilizable for individuals with asthma exacerbations.
Later, several researches have shown that intake of enhanced quantities of inhaled corticosteroids regularly doesn’t increase positive effects.
Yousef and his colleagues have conducted a research which involved almost 200 kids of 2-17 years. These children were treated with inhaled corticosteroids during 3 months. They were chosen randomly for therapies for a period of 12 days. Any child that had asthma complications was given inhaled corticosteroids. Then the results were evaluated by the physicians.
No any child who smoked, had symptoms of chronic asthma or lung pathology was involved in the research.
Patients had to inform about their adverse results per telephone within 72 hours.  So, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance  for exercises. Each response was evaluated according to a score that was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any sigh; 4 meant the highest severity level.
Only 4 children out of 82 the children that were given enhanced quantities of inhaled steroids had to take systemic corticosteroids. Two2 of them were given doubled doses; others two were administering the dose which was higher by 8 times than a standard one.
According to the results of the study, effectiveness of the medicines, placebo effect, supervision of specialists and treatment of individuals during early stages of asthma exacerbation were responsible for acquiring good results.
This as well as other studies show that not every story about steroids is linked with abuse and administration of them by athletes. Steroids are effective for numerous medical purposes.
