Recently some experts at Lulea University of Technology and Umea University conducted a valuable research. Scientists studied and defined links between steroid use, body fat distribution and some unwanted results of anabolic steroids. The study has displayed that consumers of steroids can experience abnormal fat distribution that may lead to heart attacks and other problems related to cardiovascular system.
The results of the research and conclusions were published in The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.
Ten top lifters from Sweden were involved in the research. They take anabolic steroids regularly. So, it was studied role of steroids in body fat distribution.
It is stated that lifters that take anabolic-androgenic steroids have risks suffering from heart attacks. The specialists at Lulea University of Technology and Umea University have studied how body fat is distributed in lifters who apply steroids having anabolic and androgenic properties. It has been seen that incorrect fat distribution can be a reason for dysfunctions of cardiovascular system.
The lifters that were implicated in the study were divided into 2 groups. Fat distribution was studied in lifters of the two groups. The lifters of one group administered anabolic steroids. The lifters of another group didn’t administer steroids.
The study has manifested that those that use steroids have lower fat deposits below the waist. Thus, they have lower levels of gynoid fat.
DEXA scanner that is commonly applied to study osteoporosis has been used in order to determine fat distribution by the specialists of the study.
